Homework is considered a classic house album, especially since it exposed that type of music to a lot of people who weren't that familiar with it. Daft Punk didn't make "Underworld" type music, but it's still great for what they do.

daft punk's debut album makes no doubts about the influences contained within the sleeve. everything that was cool about the late 70's, early 80's makes a cameo within the sixteen tracks on 'homework'. however, unlike most artists who retread the songs of the influences they wear on their sleeves, daft punk clearly "get it". 'homework' is easily the freshest take on early urban dance culture recorded to date. instead of providing a snapshot of the past, it gives us an open door to the future of what can still be accomplished, using everything from chic to mr. fingers as a guiding path. it may be a difficult task in today's constantly evolving dance scene to grab from the past, but when it's done properly like 'homework', it can be genius.
