palin - whoops!
guess somebody's relieved that the republicans didn't win - be awful to be forced to stay together just for mommy's image

conservatives are very quiet about this, considering how they lavished support and attention when the pregnancy was announced...

Re: palin - whoops!
The hypocrisy of the fanatical right, and their fervent desire to cling to a "champion of their values", is astounding. I've actually come to believe that people that hop on the bandwagons of these hard-right Neoconservatives (If Palin actually is one! Did we really learn that much about her?) are either fairly dumb when it comes to politics, or really have no idea or care of how important it is to preserve some of the most basic and vital tenets of what America was founded on.

I was amused to watch Sarah Palin, with all of her family values and other right-sided values, backtrack entirely to not only extricate herself from her daughter's mess but to actually make us feel ok with what had happened. And then before you know it, Bristol's standing in the background with Levi in a twisted mock-up of Leave It To Beaver. I wonder if anyone out there suddenly realized why these clowns were so dangerous to our society? That watching this lady backtrack completely due to her "Family interests" was a small-scale demonstration of what neocons promote when they backtrack on diplomatic and social issues for the sake of "National Interests"? I wonder if perhaps they saw suddenly why it was better to work inside the box that's been created instead of throwing out the old box and using a new one entirely? Interventionism, changing gears, -- I'm not saying it's wrong from time to time but from the gay marriage issue to the the Patriot Act, the knife of reform has cut way too deep at times when we've had clear policies in place that could've been used. And it's really sad, just like watching Palin throwing out her old model of ideals we watch other neocons argue in favor of throwing out old models of civil liberties, refute "all men are created equal" and bash foreign diplomacy and policy in the face. And this makes sense to some people, as moronic as it seems.

Well hey, at least Bristol didn't have an abortion. I suppose this is the overriding victory. But hey, what about abstinence and waiting until marriage? Did anyone out there hear that message while Bristol and Levi were being paraded around in their designer clothing, baby bumps a'bumping? I know I didn't. All I heard was "They're keeping their baby, hallelujah! They're gonna stay together!" Tell you what though -- find me ten 18 year old single mothers and I'll show you nine in that same group that wanted to keep the baby and settle down with the daddy. But hey, Sarah Palin thought she had something to gain with exploiting that situation, so why even mention values and higher principles? It's the neocon way, you know.

I seriously hope that Sarah Palin floats into the oblivion of obscurity and that a couple of the nutjobs that we've had to endure over the past number of years follows her into the void.

EDIT: I'd like to clarify that I don't actually have an opinion of major substance about Bristol or anyone for that matter getting pregnant out of wedlock. Shit happens sometimes.

Re: palin - whoops!
the guy is a douche... you don't have a baby and leave— it's your baby, it's your responsibility.
it's also proof that abstinence-only education sucks.

My understanding is that, according to his sister, is denying him contact with the baby too. Now THAT is sad. Children have a right to know both parents, whether the mother's family think they are "white trash" or not.

Re: palin - whoops!
she shouldn't have knocked up someone she thought was white trash. btw, this isn't a political issue to me; just a basic moral issue.
