Re: Doom Trailer!
The 1st Person perspective shots look really cool.

The movie as a whole though looks too cheesy, like what they did with the first Resident Evil movie. The DOOM movie should carry a darker atmosphere , especially in the visuals IMO.

Re: Doom Trailer!
This looks terrible, did they have a $10 budget? It reminds me of Starship Troopers 2.

Oh, and guns that talk to you? Are they still going along with the idea of removing the hell references? (other than the cheesy "All hell breaks loose" line).

One of my good friends was urging me to see Starship Troopers 2, just to see how bad it really is. I'm very curious, but I also have many other things I could be watching or video games I could be playing.

How bad was it?

Re: Doom Trailer!
The only reason it was bad, in my eyes, is that if focused on only one part of the overall Starship Troopers story arch. That one point was a small mobile infantry unit. It did not have any spaceship battles or anything like that. It was all focused on one group in one building.

Well, I ain't gonna lie. It was bad. But it was almost bad enough to do the loop back to good.

Don't buy it, but if you can snag someone else's copy, you might dig it. (in a low budget horror movie kind of way)

Re: Doom Trailer!
It's one of those "so bad, it's good" films. We could have switched it off but it was fun to ridicule it.

They manage to rip off a bunch of other films (including Species, LOL), the captain of Denise Richard's ship is in it as one of the soldiers(?), the guns look like they're made out of cardboard. Then there's all the plot holes, illogical stuff, bad acting, naff special effects.

It was directed by the guy who was the "creature visual effects supervisor" for the original film. How that qualifies him to be a director all of a sudden? Well the end-result is proof of why that was a bad idea. I think it went straight to DVD, another sign of a classic!

Re: Doom Trailer!
Oh, and you can watch the first 8 mins here...

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/star...he_federation/

LOL, I just remembered my friend originally tried to hire it from Blockbuster but the guy behind the counter refused. He said he couldn't take her money in return for the film We ended up downloading it, and thanked the guy next time we went in

Damn, another flashback: they lifted a load of footage from the original film and chucked that into the mix. We're not talking a 5 second flashback either, shame they didn't include shots of the captain just to confuse people even more

I'm gonna download this one over the weekend now! This sounds just craptastic.

I was wondering if Michael Ironside might appear at some point as it sounds like they used a lot of old footage and would probably make the mistake of including a character from the first film who died and not even notice their flub.

And didn't the capt. of Denise Richard's ship die in the first film?

A little thing like dying wasn't enough to stop her

I think it was meant to be a different character, just a weird bit of casting. Unless they wanted to claim "Features the one who told Denise Richards what to do then got crushed by the big door when the bugs ATTACKED!".
