Ingmar Bergman, RIP
The leading light of cinema-as-art, imo. Through A Glass Darkly was a masterpiece.

He had a good innings, though. 89 ain't bad going for someone who had 5 marriages

Re: Ingmar Bergman, RIP
My favourite Bergman film was definitely Wild Strawberries. Really quite moving.

Woody Allen will be gutted.

Re: Ingmar Bergman, RIP
Very sad indeed.

I'm surprised there wasn't already an op-ed piece by Allen. Maybe he'll write something for the New Yorker.

The following was posted on the NY Times website today though. It's parts of a book review written by Allen in 1988 about Bergman.
