Ableton Live users: I want a loop CD
I'm starting to learn Live and I'd like to add it to my DJ sets. Right now I have nothing production wise. I'd like to find a CD that has a range of loops in the house/techno and all subgenres so I could use them in Live.

Any recommendations?

You can use any commercial CD that you want to sample...warping tracks is super fastquick once you're familiar with it. It's especially easy to build perfect sounding loops out of techno tracks. Or is that not what you want? I'm a little unsure what you're asking...

Re: Ableton Live users: I want a loop CD
I just want a bunch of loops that I can use in the session view. So I could have one turntable playing, then mix in elements to make a new track and mix out the turntable. Play with that a bit, then mix in a new track from the turntable.

I just don't have the time or knowledge to cut up track and isolate certain instruments for loops.

Then you don't have time to bother with Live. Seriously, what Prof and I are proposing is the whole point of the program, and, once you're familiar with it, is nearly effortless and takes a minimum amount of time. They couldn't make it simpler or easier.

depends on what your view is n the dj thing imo

if you think that dj'ing is like vinyl-vinyl-mixer it's your good right
personal i think, if you can use certain kind of "toys", don't hesitate
the more possibilities, the more fun

not?

Kinda -- for a long time I felt that way but then I kind of realized one day that this is what electronic composition *should* feel like. I actually feel like I'm using an instrument when working with Live whereas in Cubase, DP or whatever I just feel like a programmer.

Music software that makes you feel like an artist FTW

Re: Ableton Live users: I want a loop CD
I'm not sure if you guys understand what I want. I don't just want loops, I want single instruments. Mainly so I can build a brand new track instead of just throwing in a loop of a track.

I'd love to breakdown one of my favorite tracks into instruments and loops. The loop part I can handle-- it's the isolating instruments I have no clue about.

Hawtin did it for DE9: Closer To The Edit. How is it done?
