Secede - Vega Libre
Just received this new CD from Sending Orbs, one of the best new labels out there at the moment, in my opinion.
Very mid-90's retro electronica, think The Orb's Oblivion crossed with Future Sound Of London's Lifeforms, but very nice at the same time.

Info and samples at:

From their press release:
Quote:
[COLOR=black]Secede, or Lennard van der Last (1984) has built quite a fanbase since his first Sending Orbs album Tryshasla. Now, about 1.5 year later, he finally delivers his second concerto for electronica on Sending Orbs: Vega Libre. A mini-album CD, 7 tracks running over 50 minutes, accompanied by a 4-track EP on enthralling orange coloured vinyl.

Just like its predecessor the story behind Vega Libre deals with something coming at its end; where Tryshasla was a holiday into a dreamland of a person dying, Vega Libre is based on the idea of an apocalyptic party. There is splendid artwork from Sending Orbs resident Jeroen Advocaat creating the right atmosphere for this view.

The exaltic, hiphopbeated opener /slash title track is the leitmotiv of Vega Libre. Notice how specific sounds and melodies keep recurring throughout the cd and much more than on Tryshasla there is room for percussion and repetition. Hearing it blend so well with all the warmth and grooviness of the scapes surrounding them you could really state that there's something very 90s, very electronic about this release.

This music brings our minds back to the early days of the Future Sound of London and The Orb, when life was somewhat good and electronica somewhat monumental; never before has Lennard succeeded so gloriously in capturing this spirit of the musical era we love so much at Sending Orbs. Proving this point one of Secede's examples from the old times, ambient grandfather and grandmaster Tetsu Inoue, was so charmed with the material that he agreed to do a remix.

Vega Libre is like the recent revival of the Zeppelin airship: traditional but very modern, highly sophisticated and more beautiful than ever before. It is voluptuous music full of well-placed samples and detail, with a fantastic pace. Where other electronica nowadays seems to get colder and angrier, Secede manages to characterize himself as the antipode: his latest opus is electrifying and sensual.

Vega Libre is available in our shop now!

I'm not associated with them in any way - just spreading the word about this awesome but small label.
