as you should all know by now - in all movies (& US TV shows) the telephone number is always 555 something...well

i thought i'd start a thread for spotting these unique movie phone numbers:

Movie: Back to the Future

Number: 555 4823

Where spotted or heard : Jennifer, Marty's girlfriend, scribbles it on the back of the save the clocktower flyer, its her home phone number.



so you know the drill - if you hear or see in any movie or TV show a phone number with the '555' prefix come back here and post it...

(don't just trawl to some geeky movie site and post loads at once - i could do that...its more fun coming across them when you do and posting them as and when...unless you remember some off the top of your heads )

hopefully we can have a complete phone book of hollywood with 9999 numbers in it...

all movie and tv numbers in the us are started with the 555 prefix - so you don't get stalkers and weirdoid geeky types calling up numbers they see in movies and bothering those who answer.

Best use of the 555 is in "Last Action Hero" - when the kid's trying to convince Arnie that he's a movie character - and says something like "Well, how come all the number start with 555, you'd run out of numbers." Arnie's reply: "That's why we have area codes..."

Not quite as memorable as "I'll be back." - but it wasn't exactly a memorable film. And I've probably totally misquoted it, as i've not bothered to google for the exact script.

I do quite like the self parody in Last Action Hero...what with Stallone playing all Arnies roles in the movies in the video store...

its not THAT bad a film tbh....in an action adventure kinda way

Yeah, that is the way remember it. You are not too far off. Last Action Hero was actually a pretty good film. Better than most of Arnie's stuff. The sad thing is that until this thread I didn't notice that in movies all phone numbers started with 555 so I didn't quite get the joke in the movie.
