BT - This Binary Universe
After the shitfest of Emotional Technology, I wasn't expecting much from a new BT album, but this is a really nice surprise. Very ambient with lots of stuff going on and a glitchy IDM feel to some of the tracks. Comes with a DVD mixed in 5.1 with lots of cool animation.

Yeah this one's got me wet too - I'm not all that convinced about the whole sitting and listening to an album in surround thing, it's never worked for me. At the moment putting yourself in a listening situation like that is still too fiddly, whereas the best listening moments still occur spontaneously for me. Will sit with friends and watch it at least once though.

Re: BT - This Binary Universe
wow...i think if anything that trailer struck me as pretentious. If Tomato had done those graphics i think i would have gotten 'wet' as Ally put it. no hairs or wetness occured here...it seems as if anytime anyone implies a life changing experience, it doesn't happen...

i'm just getting old i suppose.

One track downloadable from new album at:

Sounds like they have gone back to sounding more like Wide angle again
(which is good)

The 'surround thing' ? You know, you don't HAVE to listen to it that way. 5 Channel sound neatly converts to 2 channel stereo... nobody is saying you have to listen to it in a theatre...it's just a the medium that the artist thought best would suit this work (I haven't listened to this album though, yet)...which seems like some sort of EMO-Hippy-NewAge-EverythingisBeautiful-ILoveMyDaughter trip that he's trying to pull off.

Dont hate on the 5 channel records, I think it's a great system to having originally recorded something in DTS, rather than recording it originally in Stereo and then "converting" it to 5 channel later in the studio.
