Re: what synth do they use ?
I agree, it's likely a Nord Lead 2. I've been using one for a couple years now and I love it. It has a distinct "warm and friendly" sound to it, always easy on the ears. You can hear it on my tune "Big Atlantic" as well if you are interested. I used it for all the synths you hear on that track including the bass line.

nice track! I have a Nord (Rack) 2 as well and I love it. the Nord seems to be an Underworld favourite, but they do of course use a lot of different synths, so it's hard to say for sure wich one they used on what.

Re: what synth do they use ?
Karl mentioned (in this months's issue of Future Music) that Rick still uses his DX7 in the mix of hardware equipment. I'm assuming he's referring to the Yamaha. He said that's one piece of hardware they'll never do away with. So it could be that synth, the Nord others have spoke of, or a software plug-in used with Logic. (or any other hardware synth secret they haven't let us in on
)

Re: what synth do they use ?
the dx7 isnt gonna give you the sound of two months off. its much too warm a sound for the dx. it definately sounds like the nord. rick before had mentioned that he loved time stretching the dx sounds and seeing what he gets off that. songs play pig is a much better example of what is probably the dx7. the intro to back in the fears at the electraglide show sounds like it would be a time stretched fm sound as well. its very metallic.
