Underworld Preps Downloads, 'Breaking' Soundtrack

May 15, 2006, 3:45 PM ET

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Underworld will on June 5 release the third and final installment of its Riverrun download series, dubbed "I'm a Big Sister, and I'm a Girl, and I'm a Princess, and This Is My Horse." The 25-minute download features five different pieces and is "is probably a bit more chilled than the other two" that have already been unveiled, group member Karl Hyde told Billboard.com in December.

On July 10, the group will release "The Misterons Mix," which condenses the three Riverrun downloads into a 30-minute mix. The album will be available for free download to those who purchased the earlier downloads via UnderworldLive.com.

In the fall, V2 will release Underworld's soundtrack for the Anthony Minghella film "Breaking & Entering," which premieres Oct. 6 in U.S. theaters. "We've been improvising in Abbey Road in a big orchestral studio, using electronics and traditional acoustic instruments from all over the world," Hyde said previously of the soundtrack. "It has opened all of our heads."

Finally, the group is also moving forward on its first studio album since 2002's "A Hundred Days Off," and is planning to release new music via a host of 12-inch vinyl singles this summer. Remixes are already lined up from Pete Heller, Pig and Dan, Paul Woolford and Robag Wruhme.

Megasweet. I love the chill stuff and am excited to hear more. Perhaps all the dance tunes are being saved for the album?

that does sound like a likely story. i too hope that 'always loved a film' makes it's way into a formal release. 96 kb/sec quality doesn't cut it on that one

Re: Billboard.com
Is this really the final installment? I was really digging the RiverRun series.

Re: Billboard.com
it is confusing. On one of the previous radio shows Karl said the next installment would be a bit more techno, but all the media seems to be saying that it will be more chill. I agree with Dubman, how much more chill can it get after PFE? I thought that was supposed to be the chill one. I think they're just mixing stuff up, since they say they are using a quote from Karl in december, which was when PFE was released and they probably didn't even have a set release date for the next one back then.

it's almost tolerable though...

yeah, since mt friends dont have the best ears for that sort of thing, i just cut it into a seperate mp3 and i like the thought of starting a mix with "aaaauuuhhhh, you wouldnt believe how dark it is tonight"

Re: Billboard.com
I'm excited for it all, but wondering what's getting released on vinyl.

Hopefully one of them is a non-white label, more distributed JAL To Tokyo (Paul Woolford Mix).
