a silly, funky lil track
Dirts,

This is something that's been kicking around in my head for a few years. The bassline from the Bee Gees' "Staying Alive" is just so tasty and danceable in it's disco form, but i've added some electro elements and a stooopid vocoded loop. i started thinking about this kind of mash-up after listening to Goldie's "Inner City Life" and making regular walks past some very um, uniquely decorated houses (i.e. Santa ornaments in the lawn in July, garbage cans toppled on the porch, etc...)

Maximum respect to whomever can tell where i snagged t he drumloop that kicks in at 0:20!

heh heh, I really liked this one... I have to admit a sneaking admiration for this Bee Gee's loop as well. Sometimes you gotta indulge yourself... a few years ago I did an album where every track was based around my favorite drum loops, some very over used, and easily recognizable... My favourite was from John Cougar Mellencamp's "Jack & Diane", and another one I used the guitar part at the beginning of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over"...

but I digress... This is kinda DJ Shadow and therefore I like

Re: a silly, funky lil track
Thanks for listening!
Yeah, i'm not too crazy about mash-ups, unless they have a significant amount of new production. Anyone can plop two tracks on top of each other, but cutting up elements and hooks from varied sources a la Shadow or Lemon Jelly can still be very creative.
i did get a little carried away with the Stayin' Alive vocal at the end, but whatever... it's just for kicks!

Anyone get that drumbeat at 0:20 and onwards yet? hint: i guarantee you've heard the track before
