The time for Dirty Shirts has arrived
Well, after another discussion I have decided that it's time to get things formally moving with Dirty Shirts. Although I can do as little as one per run, if you guys wants your shirts silkscreened (being, the process of laying ink instead of a high-quality, non-transparent transfer) I need to qualify how much interest there is before I lay out the options here. Reagrdless of how I make them though, I can tell you that I will be charging around $15 for each shirt (but will discuss why they go up if they do, most likely due to the demands of the job); 50% of the proceeds will be going to the site as soon as I ascertain where the check needs to be sent.

Also, I would highly prefer that some of the artists here volunteer their services for design. In about 2-3 weeks we will hold a vote to see whose art will grace the shirts. If I do silkscreen, the maximum colors allowed in the print are 3 colors, and the colors need to be separated out after if your design is selected. But don't worry, I'll walk you through it.

So, phase 1 of this is to gauge interest. I'm looking for a minimum of 12 votes for yes (regardless of which one) and after that we'll get into art selection. So vote now... poll closes next Wednesday.

Re: The time for Dirty Shirts has arrived
I voted "yes -- let someone else do the artwork" but I'd be happy to whip up some design concepts if we only get one or two submissions.

Thanks for getting this rolling

Re: The time for Dirty Shirts has arrived
I'm very interested, and $15 is a very good price!

I don't really understand the "if you guys wants your shirts silkscreened (being, the process of laying ink instead of a high-quality, non-transparent transfer)" line though, but that's because of the language barrier I guess. Does it mean the quality is just... good?

I think I can do international payments via my bank too, so that won't be a problem.
Sorry, but I can't help you with artwork.

silk screening actually dies the fabrics and thus can't be worn off. the high quality, non transparent transfer sounds like the plasticy ones that kinda go on shirts that eventually flake off after a while from washing, bar brawls, sex, etc...

I agree with Holden here so it was good to see you make the statement below which basically says you'll donate half of each sale to the dirty site? Admirable.

We all know that no-one wants to step on anyone's toes but we also know that people won't wait forever. An official blessing would be and should be sought. Scott's intellectual property? That maybe true. However, if some of the proceeds are coming back to the site it shouldnt be a problem (but thats not for me to say). I for one would also like to see an official dirty shirt and will get one whenever they finally are announced.

I'm just a moderator, I'm not the owner.

So, at the very least I hope this can rustle up some creative designs.

Re: The time for Dirty Shirts has arrived
At about this point, I'm with you Stimpee. I smell a shitstorm on the horizon for me and although it doesn't really bother me, I personally give the odds of the 22 people so far that have expressed interest in a shirt a 1 in 3 chance of actually having it for the spring. That's all I'm at liberty to say.

Actually, you're thinking of sublimination. Silk screen is the art of using a plastisol-based ink, spreading it onto a shirt with the aid of a screen that has your image's composite burnt onto it, and then curing the ink at 840 degrees in an oven. It has a similar longetivity rate as sublimination, although both are subjected to damage when subjected to extremely high temperatures (325 degrees fahrenheit or higher). But yeah, those two processes are the most durable, embroidery coming in at a distant second.

I'd totally contribute artwork, I can do a lot of graphical design.
