physical single releases?
I'd love to get my hands on a copy of all the 'Barking' CD singles, but as far as I know there's no official CD release for all three of them.
I can not understand this as there seems to be a lot of interest in the promo singles. Underworld could make them some extra money and keep us the fans happy if they would still release their singles on CD, too! ![]() Now someone else makes a lot of money on ebay instead. Here are the results of some recent ebay auctions for the promo singles (some of them were sold/are still sold by the same person again and again): Bird 1 - 10 Track Promo CD - 05-11-2010 sold for 26,00 £ Bird 1 - 10 Track Promo CD - 05-11-2010 sold for 27,99 £ Bird 1 - 10 Track Promo CD - 05-11-2010 sold for 37,00 £ Bird 1 - 10 Track Promo CD - 08-11-2010 sold for 24,99 £ ALAF - 3 Track Promo CD - 12-11-2010 sold for 10,83 £ ALAF - 5 Track Promo CD - 12-11-2010 sold for 7,02 £ Scribble- 4 Track Promo CD - 13-11-2010 sold for 22,00 £ Scribble- 4 Track Promo CD - 14-11-2010 sold for 16,40 £ Bird 1 - 10 Track Promo CD -16-11-2010 sold for 27,13 £ Bird 1 - 3 Track Promo CD - 18-11-2010 sold for 56,56 £ ALAF - 5 Track Promo CD - 22-11-2010 sold for 8,60 £ ALAF - 3 Track Promo CD - 22-11-2010 sold for 6,08 £ Bird 1 - 8 Track Promo CD - 27,00 £ and still going for some days.... |

Re: physical single releases?
It is a shame. The promos these time also come in custom sleeves unlike the OWB promos that were just black and white inserts with blank CDRs. We have seen how much the band have made out of the Bungalow with Stairs CD (£30 each x 1000 (or 2000?)). I just wonder if theres a market for them to produce a limited run of singles for the fans. Would it be profitable? Im not sure. They could print a few more of the promos and then sell them on Underworldlive.com. After all, they are incurring the cost for these anyway.

and yeah, it was always puzzling that certain releases didn't get physical releases... but honestly....why should they bother nowadays? how long have digital singles been coming out? for at least several years now right....that's just standard industry practice... there has ALWAYS been a high interest in PROMOS, that they NEVER have gotten any money from, so nothing new there... the most likely thought, is that they will issue some updated 'remix' disc along with the album in the future (pure speculation)... in japan/europe/etc.. or even digitally.. wouldn't help you, but at least make it easier for people to get them.. the economics of making the singles as regular releases is too expensive.. for most groups (unless you have a huge fanbase, and very high visibility).. by the way, of course if you wait a few months, you'll be able to pick up a lot of these promos for really cheap prices.. i did that with the 'oblivion with bells' singles... unless you really can't wait, and have a lot of extra money... just save it and see what happens later on... later -1 |

and as for cost, i think the promo's costs are covered by the label (not 100% sure about that)... and should be part of the promotion and deal made for it... so don't think that they would be that willing to eat the cost of them... later -1 |
