Re: got him
And not before time either.

He has been metaphorically mooning at the international community for nigh-on 13 years now. Nice to see that a change of government has brought about a change of heart in the Serbian Government.

He will clearly go down the road of not recognising the Tribunal, the way Milosevic did, so I am looking forward to the fun that trial is going to be.

In the case of Karadzic, you know it wouldn't surprise me if Serb authorities had known his whereabouts for some time. Earlier this year, European leaders made it clear that Belgrade had to step up efforts to track him down, in the same breath talking about EU membership and economic assistance. Several months later, well whaddyaknow.... here he is.

Maybe they just "stepped up efforts".

Good news anyway. And hopefully, if nothing else, it will serve to remind people where populist Muslim-hating nationalism can (can) lead.

Re: got him
accounts say he was working running an alternative medical practise in belgrade; so didn't have to do much hiding. and sadly, there's always been genocidally-empathetic folk around - usually groups who were complicit to varying degrees and have a vested interest in those around them keeping their secrets... ...as well as wholeheartedly supporting their leader...

Re: got him
And of course he is going to represent himself.... should be a laugh.

Well I guess if you don't believe in the legitimacy of a legal system, you just give it a touch of the Abbie Hoffmans, which is what Milosevic managed to string out for years before he finally topped himself.

Ah well - fun and games to come
