"filled with annoyance" is exactly the emotion that caused that ALL CAPS tirade. sometimes you have to reach the level of the complainers to make your point.

i've never been happy about the release policy in japan - but many bands have different release strategies for different territories... if you are an uber fan that is one of the pit falls...
so we're just supposed to accept it? and change will
never happen?

Coupled with that though, i've never been unhappy with the way Underworld have and always do look after their fans, especially the regular forum posters...

i mean whats happening later today at 6pm??

Underworld, off their own back are sitting down in a studio and playing 2+ hours worth of music (most likely to include some unheard of jems) mainly for people who drop by here reguarly
apples and oranges, no ones complaining that underworld isn't
doing enough to give us music, its the methodology
and inconsistency thats the issue..

Quote:
not everything is clear, release policies and costs may well influence these decisions, and before we bash the boys, i think we will get more and more product available digitally over the coming months... so patience my friends
speculation doesn't help either, until its said and done..

Quote:
and to blame the 'live here now' issue on UW is unfair, as is the release of
the sunshine soundtrack, which is owned by a different corporation
slating the band themselves won't get stuff released...
no, in this case, it is clearly their fault also...why would
you partner with someone that has obviously dropped
the ball repeatedly, and at great expense.....no, they
need to step up and admit its not working, or take
steps to fix things...yes, liveherenow did FINALLY get
their act together, but after how long? and how much
prompting? is this professional?

and before all of you start complaining about me, and the
complexities, etc,...etc....i worked with KMFDM and their
official site for a couple of years, we were a small outfit,
and ok, so they don't have a huge fanbase, but they did
have a vocal and faithful following, we were running the
merchandise out of my friends house, we did all the
packing ourselves, shipping, etc...we made sure each
and every customer was happy, we checked every order,
and we also threw in a ton of free stuff......and guess
what, our budget wasn't much either...but we did add
digital downloads, free fanshows, free passes, and a ton
of other things just for the fans...so i know it can be
done....and yes, we were in touch with sascha, and brute,
and did consult people about all the decisions concerning
artwork, releases, singles, digital stuff etc.......

i know yannick is doing an awesome job, and so is ant, steve,
and of course the group.....but sometimes you need
to step back, and reevaluate where you're going, and
see if it is right/wrong, and admit when things go wrong, and
change it to something better...

you make some great points -1, but there is no 'tried n true' methodology to marketing/promoting/selling music right now. everyone is trying to figure out a system that can work for both fans and artists but there isn't a proven model to adopt/adapt.

The instrumental to the original is real nice, I just realized, but I'm not sure about the vocals. Its kind of "Bruce Lee" + Talking Heads "Once In a Lifetime"...

I wonder how much the label dictates these releasing methods.

thanx, i'm not trying to come off as the 'angry' fan here..

and of course i'm not expecting to see a 'perfect' solution here,
or anytime soon..

in fact, the point that underworld IS TRYING different methods,
different strategies, online, other suppliers (don't you think we
would have KILLED for having live recorded shows back in during
the dubno and STITI days?)...is very promising.....i'm all for it....

however, i do hold them (the group, management, etc) up to high
standards.....so when there are problems, issues , etc, THEY NEED
to be accountable for them....just giving them a free pass, and
saying its not their fault is an easy way out..

Re: single 'Ring Road' will be released on 7th July 2008
i agree in the main about what -1 says, and i agree nothing happens without action...

But for me its a case of some ppl here coming on this board and basically being disrespectful - there are ways and means about getting change - being discurteous and rude isn't one of them

i, like BLD and others, i'm sure, feel ashamed to see people on here bemoaning everything that comes out from UW headquarters because its not to their own personal liking

granted, there are some things that have gone wrong or are not 'fair' - and yes the 'live here now' issue was one of them, but some ppl are so impatient, rude and downright nasty in their comments - i'm surprised we ever get anything from UW, really i am.

Underworld have been very innovative in the past and are continuing to be so - sometimes innovation takes time and practice to get right - give the guys a break, ffs - they have been doing this for over 25 years

yes things can be improved - but if you're unhappy about something voice it in a way that will facilitate change - shouting and moaning doesn't do this

this one post won't stop it (and i'm not and never intend to be a mod here), i know most of the ppl don't read other threads before moaning about things, but hey, its here for future reference...

Geez Louise,

Calm down

I've not been visiting the forums for sometime and it seems to be a forum of moaning.

Dave's Advice

You gotta understand that life sometimes can be tough. There are all kinds of problems you'll encounter and hurdles will be placed in your way. Sometimes there are crocodiles on the other side of them. This is the same for you, me and the underworld team. Give them and me a break and put it down to life.

Instead of getting worked up, get yourself a nice cup of tea, in your favourite mug, a ginger-nut biscuit (or biscuit of your choosing) and go and talk to someone and have a nice conversation outdoors. Breath some fresh air.

There you go... all sorted

Love, Dave

Peace Dudes - I'll listening back to the show tomorrow as I've got a meeting with my kids scout troop!

There you go again, life

I have just pre-ordered the CD single from HMV. It lists the promo's tracklist, so I hope it's true. A 5-track official CD would be nice!

Re: single 'Ring Road' will be released on 7th July 2008
Are people STILL whining on about Underworld not giving them exactly what they want in the format they want and with the track-listing they want on the day they want it? Jeez.

Anyhoo - my understanding from some banter in the radio show chatroom was that this is going to be available through the UW shop on the UWlive site. So I am happy to wait and see.
