next up ---------------------------------------------- mmm skyscraper I love you, 1993 ===================================== 12" : 1993 UK (Boy's Own / London; BOIX 13 / 85051-1) CD : 1993 UK (Boy's Own / London; BOICD 13 / 857051-2) 01. mmm skyscraper I love you 13:14 02. mmm skyscraper I love you(telegraph 6.11.92) 7:06 03. mmm skyscraper I love you (jam scraper) 9:12 ---------------------------------------------------------- i just got my vinyl copy of this a week ago...(i had the promo, and the cd single a long time ago)....so i have listened to it recently.. first up: remixers : underworld ====================================== track 1 - album version, now considered an all time classic, from the eerie samples, to the evocative synths, a definitive underworld track in sound, pacing, and overall mood.. track 2 - a shorter edit, thats actually more related to 'jamscraper'. with some speech from an asian lady to start off, it then descends into a more acidy, beat heavy version...with distorted synths, and echoey vocals...pretty repetitive, until the end, until a piano solo works its way into it.. track 3 - a more radical reworking of the some with some cool elements..totally different intro/keyboards, and a rollicking beat add up to a very good rework...with a few sparse vocal samples effort : B+ execution : B ------------------------------------------------- the album version was such a strong release, the remixes didn't really improve on it, and in fact aren't really that great (they're good), but the production values are excellent, and they start to show the trend of underworld reworking tracks to go into very different directions for a second effort it isn't bad, but theres a lot more to come... thoughts? next up: ============================== rez, 1993- b/w cowgirl rez, 1993 -b/w why why why later -1 |
