Re: The Golden Path
Problem with the Chemical Brothers is they draw so much from their back catalog for influences, so even these latter day good tunes sound a bit like knock offs:

"Setting Sun" begot "Let Forever Be"
"Get Yourself High" begot "Push the Button" begot "Do it Again"
"The Golden Path" begot "Battle Scars"
"Private Psychodelic Reel" begot "Sunshine Underground" begot "Burst Generator"
Heck, even "Alive Alone" and "Where Do I begin" with Beth Orton sound a lil too close to "The State We're In".

I think their best tunes are "Leave Home"", "In Dust We Trust", "Chico's Groove", "Dig Your Own Hole", "Elektrobank", "Setting Sun", and "Get Up on It Like This", and "Music: Response", all 1999 or earlier.

But i still love em. Justa lil less with every record!

I like the video to The Test, especially the way the jelly fish light up to the bass - very clever.

Re: The Golden Path
I first heard The Golden Path when I saw them live years back. I'd never been too into them aside from the more popular singles and was floored when the break hit and "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease forgive meeeeeeee!" echoed through the room. Goosebumps down the back of my neck and watery eyes. One of the peak moments of live music for me, and I'll never forget it.

gonna side with lukeyd on this one, there were much much much better ways to execute that idea than that horrible computer dross we were presented with. let forever be is so much more exciting, both as music and as video.

might be just because i'm american, but i'll take a gallagher over that breathy bad-90s bullshit of "you should taaaaake what i'm takin" on repeat.

it's so immediately loathable.

Re: The Golden Path
I hated this to begin with, but it just got under my skin and i love it so much. The collabaration between The Chems and The Flaming Lips is spot on, the vocals especially couldnt have worked with someone like Noel Gallagher. And the video has the odd FL's feel to it to.
