I know U2 in many eyes will never be cool. But they are clearly a big influence on many bands today.

Re: A Review I Approve Of
Hmm, 15 years after forming, there's a challenge....
Kraftwerk (although I'm probably alone in thinking 'Electric Cafe' was their best), so that's no good... Depeche Mode are in with a stab if you don't like synthpop and rate 'Ultra' as their peak? Ahh, I know! Sigue Sigue Sputnik! The only one of their albums that wasn't pants (albeit entertaining pants) was "Pirate Space" from 2001, and they formed in 1985! Do I win a prize? |

Re: A Review I Approve Of
u2's best album is most definately achtung baby. it's fantastic... so the 15 year analogy is not 100% but mostly because there are always these statistical anomalies that should be ignored...
can't think of any others... anyways, i'm still mostly happy with the albumn, but i think it is half amazing songs, and half boring or songs that i personally am not interested in... |

Re: A Review I Approve Of
actually for me, kraftwerk does work,
it all depends on when you think they started, definitely by the early 70's so.. 15 years later, would be electric cafe, although i think that '81s computer world (only 11 years later) was their peak... other bands that don't quite qualify (since most of their good stuff was in the 80's): ---------------------------------- 808 state a-ha bjork cabaret voltaire duran duran echo and the bunnymen erasure heaven 17 human league new order pet shop boys simple minds talk talk tears for fears ultravox etc... yes, these groups are still around, and i listen to them, but they're past their prime... |

I guess the answer (for me) would be Cardiacs, who put out pretty much the best album of all time after being together at least 15 years (Sing to God). |
