yeah that BBC compression tends to make everything sound really in your face so it's always kind of a shock to adjust to the real thing. I had the exact same thing when, after first hearing TMO on Tong's show, hearing it for the first time on the album. It different.
Yeah! You gotta keep the Tong version around for the first listen aspect. This fuller version is sounding lovely on headphones.
