My solution to playing MP3s has been to get a little USB optical output on my computer and plugging it into my minidisk deck input (you can get these pretty cheap now). This is a very cheap way of getting 'perfect' (or as perfect as the MD will go) sound quality out of a computer, but I suppose that it depends how much money you want to spend.
