Bjork - Volta
thread for posting your thoughts on the single, the media strategy, the effectiveness of their plan at limiting the impact of leaks/using leaks to their advantage, earth intruders video, innoncence video compitiion, that costume and the actual music
---------------
4 good songs for me, Earth Intruders, Wanderlust, Innocence and Hope. it's interesting, as expected, but it falls a but short. hopefully the remixes will make up for it.

Aha!

The arcane and esoteric science of BLD-ism is one that I can only dream of acquiring after many years of discipleship. There is only one other person I know that can get more music that him from more obscure places, and that is the Eikmaster.

I think (I might be wrong here - although that rarely happens ) his last response was referring to the cover art i.e. whenever he gets a cd he rips it immediately then files the hard copy away, so the cover art never really bothers him much one way or the other.

Show me a cd that can't be ripped to a computer and I'll show you a cd that has no audio content on it.

Re: Bjork - Volta
well, i appreciate the efforts they've taken to not have this leak like most other albums. i could put it in my harmon-kardon cd burner and burn a copy that way, then rip it on the computer. i'm not saying it's impossible to rip the disc, but i'm saying, it doesn't even show up on the desktop or using Disk Utility on the 3 diff. Mac's i've used (eMac, Macbook, MacBook Pro). i think i'd rather respect the labels efforts to not have this LP leaked.

however, it's not even worth the hassle. it's a good album, but it's not a great album. it lags seriously about 3/4 through. here's the quick review i did for another friend:

earth intruders - diff. version to the 2 leaked, much better, diff. breakdown near the end. not radically diff. but better sequencing and a couple diff. parts.

wanderlust - sounds like a return to Mark Bell/Homogenic style with conceptual intro and very intricate drum programming. very good.

dull flame of desire - torch song w/ anthony. love, love, love the (french?) horns. like nothing you've heard before, but instantly "bjork"ish. thought i was going to hate the song with anthony but it's pretty great. 70/30 vocal split bjork/anthony. would def. prefer it without anthony, but he's not too offensive. epic length. must be 10mins at least. ends like steve morris circa Joy Division jamming with some very depressed french horm players before they all commit suicide listening to steve reich.

innocence - minimal screetching video game sampling (timbaland) beat? i actually like this one alot. heard it on myspace yesterday. love the sounds. can't wait to hear the remixes of this one.

i see who you are - slow tune, w/harp. kinda boring in a typical bjork way. reminiscent of Post era. it's not bad, but i prefer my bjork more bjzerk.

vertebrae by vertebrae - hmmz, 2 slow tunes in a row. i'll skip this one from now on. would make a great soundtrack to a foggy chase scene in slow motion on a ship at sea if she didn't sing on it.

Pneumonia - same as above. had to check to be sure it was a diff. song.

hope - has some guest doing something. sounds great. first interesting song in 15minutes. still slow but not as slow.

declare independence - holy shit. this is madness. starts cool, gets annoying as fuck very quickly. bjork goes punk rock gabber-step. not pretty.

my juvenile - slow, harpy, etc.
