Who said anything about divorcing the lyrics from the music? its my refusal to do so that makes this a diffucult listen sometimes. I'm not asking for Pavaroti, something that carries the mood and rhythm of the production in a voice that isn't itself abrasive is all I'm asking for. Understanding what I guess to be a clear attempt at recalling the styles of bygone chapters of hip hop helps me get into it a bit better.
Anyway Bump and IMC, and screwville, USA are very notable exceptions. They fuggin work.
