There will be 50 of them

Depeche Mode are to release an exclusive set of 50 live recordings to celebrate their current world trek, 'Touring The Angel'.

In a collaboration with Live Here Now, the series of shows will be recorded and put out as limited edition CDs and digital downloads.

After numerous dates across the United States, Depeche Mode return to Europe for a series of stadium shows and festival appearances throughout the summer.

Each concert will be available as part of a two-disc set is available for a limited time and will come packaged with deluxe artwork featuring new and exclusive photographs by Anton Corbijn.

Re: Depeche Mode to release Touring the Angel CDs for each gig
smart move,

i wonder what the quality of the downloads will be?

i think i'll pass though...i've got enough of the old
live tracks...i don't really care for their latter stuff,
although this current album is pretty good..

i think depeche mode collectors are going to be
spending a LOT of money really soon..
how much are they anyways?

can you imagine how much you would have
to spend if you could buy underworld concerts
if they did a similar thing?

later

Yeah, something like $300 or however much the Osaka recordings went for.

to be honest...

dave never sounds good live. he sounds more like a drunken lurch.

the videos, on the other hand, that's cool. nothing like watching andy fletcher standing there in the back..looking lost.

i have noticed that Dava Gahan seems to have a deeper voice on some boots and of course "S.O.F.A.D. Live". But drunk? Poor guy, let's hope not!

i dunno about all this... i was never sure how well the Pearl Jam live series worked out a few years back...i always seemed to encounter piles of them in used shops. But if these are digital DLs and since Depeche Mode surely has a big fanbase, perhaps it's well worth it!
What about their setlists? How much variation from show to show?

Always thought that Dave Gahan had one of the best voices I heard, either live or studio... (and I saw DM live quite a few times...)

Re: Depeche Mode to release Touring the Angel CDs for each gig
well - SOFAD Live is a crap album to begin with... I mean just by going by the boots I have of that tour (and the DVD) the album wasn't really representative of the live tour at all

and well... their shows do have some variation but not too much, they just rotate in and out 3/4 songs, so you could buy like 2 or 3 of these live recordings, and have all the songs they played live

I can say that for at least when they play the US
