Also getting the 13th floor by Outkast, and the DJ Krush albums. Thanks.
Let me know when you snag that stuff. Three Six will probably be the most challenging, but I'm confident that if you really have respect for the rap genre that they'll be something you dig. And if you like Three Six, try on Project Pat too.

Re: Hip Hop
Speaking of the mighty Mos, I would also highly recommend Hi-Tek and Kweli's Train of Thought album. That is a solid album...too bad Beautiful Struggle isn't good enough to be a coaster. But that album is great.

Not only is that not the best hip-hop song, even if it was, that is nothing to be sad about. The Chemical Brothers are great producers, and if they want to venture into other genres, they can.

That is like saying pop music was in a sad state of affairs when a hip hop artist produced the best pop song of 2003.

My statement was more a commentary on the state of hip-hop at the moment. I love what the Chems do. They've alway gone off into different styles, and that's why they are so good.

True hip-hop is what I meant, and with Q-tip on the mic, nothing could be sweeter..... Except for an ATCQ reunion....

Re: Hip Hop
I grabbed one album of Three 6 Mafia but I really didn't like it... It's not really my cup of tea I guess. Cannibal Ox has grabbed me from the beginning and I still really enjoy it though. Iron Galaxy, Atom, The F-Word, STRESS RAP, all good.

Re: Hip Hop
Yeah, 3 6 is a very mean, raw and unforgiving breed of southern gangsta. You either like it or you don't. Did you get any of the tracks I recommended though?

Re: Hip Hop
Well even though the album came out on 11/30/2004, the actual single didn't drop until '05 and it kicks the crap out of that Chem Bros song. Motivation, by T.I. was the best hip hop song of 2005.

And Hip Hop right now is kicking the shit out of electronic. Though I don't harbor the same contempt as Dubman, I'm curious Dirty Canuck as to why you think hip hop is suffering so bad. Over the past 2 years we've had incredible albums drop by The Roots, Mos Def, that T.I. CD, a new one from 3 6 this past year, Common... if you are a huge fan equally of old skool flavor hip hop, gangsta rap and soul... fuck it, R&B or hip-hop/rap in general... this has been one of the greatest 2 year stretches (2004-2006) ever. And Project Pat gets outta jail next year!

Re: Hip Hop
On a more positive note, DJ Vadim's new project "One Self" is pretty awesome.
