Am i the only person who absolutely loves Ess Gee?
Ess Gee is one of the most beautiful Underworld songs i have ever heard. The Guitar is simply brilliant work and mellow background tones. Only a guitar genius could create something like this, music genius even.
But alas, most of the community absolutely hates this song. Do i stand alone? |

no, i like every song on 'a hundred days off', but if i had to vote one off, it'd be trim (but i voted for ess gee in the survivor cos i'm trying to predict the votes or something.)

Ess Gee is a beautiful thing, as is everything U/W releases....

ok - I'll say it.. I actually like Ess Gee
I think it's better than Trim, and I listen to it more often than the album version of Twist even! Is it the best on AHDO? No... that spot goes for Leutin. |

Ess Gee would work better as part of a longer work. As is, it is very bare and unfinished...at least in terms of Underworld songs.

Re: Am i the only person who absolutely loves Ess Gee?
well... I mean album version vs live
I actually really don't care much for Twist on AHDO, but when they play it live, Karl seems to consistantly add guitar and Rick adds some added sirens and bits of percussion. Personally, on the album... I burned out on it pretty quick, and for me - I could only really think of it as a more "upbeat version of Banstyle" - but as a live entity, it feels more legitimate as its own song - if that makes any sense Last edited by joethelion; 02-09-2006 at 06:45 PM. |

I'm with you, Caprice. I love Ess Gee. I understand others' criticism of the song, but as far as I'm concerned there are times in which it's the perfect song to listen to. Such warm guitar tones, layers of loverly melody make me feel beautiful things. These are good vibes.

Yeah, count me in. I can't say it's my favourite Underworld song or anything, but I always enjoy it when I listen to the album. I find it much, much better and more effective than "Twist," "Sola Sistim," and "Little Speaker." It's similarly laid-back, but it is pretty and concise, whereas those other tracks just go on and on. And it's also pretty atypical for Underworld. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like the best Aphex Twin track in over seven years.
