Just got the email to the streaming links for the
hundred days off remaster.

listening now... sounds great..

Yes just received the email. To be honest I'm not bothered about a remaster as the original releases on CD sound perfect! But I really REALLY hope there's going to be a 'Super Deluxe' CD issue out soon hopefully with all the 'Riverrun' tracks included and some of the 'Mysterons' radio show tracks (such as the guitar version of 'Peach Tree'). Personally I'm not into vinyl, it doses nothing whatsoever for me except remind me how crap the sound is compared to CD so I hope we get the full Super Deluxe 4CD treatment.

All I can say is 'about bloody time'. "The album and more" suggests another deluxe set, fingers crossed!


Doubt Riverrun will be involved, that was OWB era (I think they said something like OWB was actually part of Riverrun, in fact).

I don't expect to see any Riverrun content this time, but I really hope it's coming.

I'm also hopeful that "and more" means extras from the AHDO sessions, aside from the known B-sides and remixes.

That album was the first UW release I was anticipating as a new obsessive fan, having only gotten into the band fervently (and with the help of this forum) in 2001. So while it's maybe not my favorite album, it is one I have a lot of fond, nostalgic memories about, and would welcome revisiting with some extras.

Side note,looking back at each album release cycle, including RiverRun, they all generated a lot of interest here, press... until Strawberry Hotel. Maybe due to the long rollout of the advance singles, or the gap between Drift and SH (though not the longest pause in their discog), or shifting musical landscape...this album's release and impact has felt the most...subdued to me. Or maybe I'm just getting old!

from a quick comparison between the mp3s from the stream website and the original cd in flac, the remaster waveforms aren't getting flattened on the tops like the originals, seems there'd be room for more dynamics now and some, not all, instruments are inverted (waveform goes down then up where it used to go up then down). some instruments are louder and fit within the mix better... basically there's more room for dynamics and they do seem to be taking advantage of it.

also a bit of extra near silent noise floor on the beginning pre-song bit of Mo Move compared to the original having it more strictly trimmed.

it may not be very obvious always, but the original did have room for improvement and this does seem to be a better quality mastering.

Not sure what it is about Strawberry Hotel, but I've listened to it maybe twice in full and have no desire to listen to it again other than a couple of individual tracks (mostly the first half of the album).

I've never had that experience with an UW album before. It might just be me getting old and jaded

Not sure when they pulled the stream, but it's gone now. i listen to music the most when working and had the last 2 weeks off and didn't get a chance to stream it.

I struggle to think of an album *less* in need of remaster than this one, but I'm excited to hear it anyway

it had enough different about the mastering that it might just mean a slightly more dynamic mix, i think it'll be any bonus content on it that really solidifies it as something really worth having.
