I'm always wary when a band talk about a quick follow-up - Karl was talking about writing during the Barbara tour, which immediately suggested a new album a year or two after. Reminds me of when Liam was talking about a new Prodigy album shortly after AONO saying it will be much, much quicker than the six-odd years that took. It was five years before Invaders came out. Idlewild had one of those "we're on a roll!" announcements straight after their comeback, with a new album due last year. They still haven't finished recording it.

I'm just a jaded cynic who grew up in the 'album every 18 months' era of the '90s.

Yeah,and for folks who were around in the 60's and 70's, you often got two or more albums a year from bands! Meanwhile, bands like Hybrid take 8 years between records, to the point where you ask, are they still together? What are they up to for so long? Well, life gets in the way, i suppose.

I'm not rushing things, and there has been new material since the World of Underworld announcement, e.g."Teatime Dub Encounters EP", "Brilliant, yes that would be" and "Apple Shine".
