until a few weeks ago i would have said Bloc Party's silent alarm with nine black alps' everthing is a close second............but i have to recommend
Black rebel motorcycle club - Howl Despite the evolution in sound you can still tell its BRMC, but its full of blues, folk, country, gospel influences and is fantastic. the power and quality of the song writing really stands on on the acoustic or paino driven numbers

Well so far in 2005 the only thing I've gotten that I'd hate to live without is M83 "Before the Dawn Heals Us" I've listened to it so much.
Got to see them in Toronto in the spring too, they put on a stellar show, one of the best I've gone to this year (along with Meat Beat Manifesto). |
