Re: Always Loved A Film
Agrred, this cover art is better, in keeping with the album theme. The single color one with the floppy letters looks like a greeting card.
oh, this remix is not good. Totally random loops and sounds and the vocal effects sound like they were programmed with the CASIO SK-1 keyboard (circa 1989, $5 on ebay, great for making burp noises in different keys or, as i used to do, sample 1.5 seconds of drumbeats from Propellerheads CDs to use as background for sounds made on other Casios!). From the horns to the vaguely bossa-nova tempo and all the bells and whistles in between, this could have been made with any number of demo loops discs in about 5 minutes. Sorry, SOLO, try harder. And yes, i realize this is how "remixes" are done these days. A shame. A really successful remix, imho, brings out the best elements of the original track. Take Trentmoeller's mix of "What Else is there?" by Royksopp, or the Pete Heller vox mix of UW's "JAL to Tokyo" - these are remixes from the past 5 years that i can get behind... they're reminiscent of the originals, they're beefed up, and they have something like a structure, not just a bunch of everchanging loops. But i digress...
