Determining Authenticity of Why Why Why 12"

Hey Guys,

I'm trying to figure out if the Rez/Why Why Why 12" I have is legit or not and was hoping that their might be someone on the forum that could help me out. Looking over the info at discogs it sounds like the original is supposed to be more of a salmon color but my copy seems more of a neon or "shocking pink" as the discogs describes. I can't really see any difference in color between the original promo pics and the bootleg pics that are on Discogs, they both look about the same to me. Collect 002 is etched into the run out grooves but this seems to be found on both the authentic promos and the bootlegs. Here are some pics I took.

Well, based on the photos on discogs, as well as on BSS's site, it looks like the genuine ones have a reddish/pinkish label, and the boots have an orange-ish label. From your picture, yours looks orange-ish, so I'd say it's probably the bootleg.

That said, I've never owned either one, so we might need an opinion here from someone like BSS or mark3.

Thanks for posting the BSS link. Looking at the pic there it seems likely that I have a bootleg. The original definitely looks more salmon then the copy I have. Not sure if I can see much of a difference in the color of the label.

Thats definitely the bootleg, having had both in my hands before. However, dont be too disheartened because the bootleg is also quite rare these days.

yep - being BSS, i can certainly verify the bootleg... which you have

the bootlegs were brighter pink

i've had both in my existence before, and both are pretty rare

labels on the bootlegs are not very well made either with the printing off centre in most cases...

never thought to check that site to check out my copy. pleased about this thread as it's an original, it turns out!

Here I thought I had a legit copy the whole time. Oh well, now I know a little more about the 12" since I'm thinking about selling it on eBay. Does anyone know how many legit and how many hot pink bootlegs were produced?

i believe it was 500 pink and 1000 boots... but i might be wrong

LOL i had three originals and a couple of boots for a while!!
