Re: Ipod Nano - replaces the ipod mini
since this is a flash based player and not a hd based one, we should cut out comparing it to other products being mentioned here (which is mostly HD based). it would be like comparing a tape player walkman vs an mp3 player, yes they're both portable players but different technologies.
for a flash based player, it's priced comparable to the other players (considering capacity). Sony's flash based walkmen actually cost more. |

Re: Ipod Nano - replaces the ipod mini
well the thing is it works the same as the HD players. a tape player works considerably different than a cd player. in maybe 2 years there won't be any HD players (maybe) but the majority of the public won't know or care... they will just use it the same...
however, i think the thing is really cool. i am wondering abbout the headphones that double as the neckband though... kinda a neat touch if it works... |

Forgotten Sanity: those Creative units do have one saving grace. The standard 2.5" HD inside thats easily replaceable. I've used the Zen Micro and i like the scroll trackpad on the front. I'd never buy anything from Creative ever again tho as I've been burned by their poor quality soundcards (and even worse bloated drivers) a couple of times.

Re: Ipod Nano - replaces the ipod mini
i couldnt care less that this looks gorgeous and is probably a thing you want to pick up, but i think i might still be getting this for a few reasons
1) i have an apple already so the ease of use/connectivity is the shizzle. 2) i need a flash based player cos i'll use it whilst out jogging (ha!) 3) afaik its the biggest capacity flash player currently available 4) it will make me more desirable to women. its true, scientists proved it.

one of the appeal for me is the fact that it does look damn good to my eyes. no luck w/ the ladies though. besides ipods become so common, i guess the cool thing is to hate on them now. regardless of fashion trends, i love my ipod and will only trade in for another ipod. |

it's easier to spot people with white earbuds than without them nowadays. So i can imagine some who always wanna swim upstream saying that "ipod sucks monkeyballs" etc. sigh. My opinion on ipod is simply that it's a useful portable. i couldn't give two fucks about the status/fashion side of it, simply cos the novelty always wears off eventually. In fact i'm kinda looking forward to the future where we can all look back and laugh at the whole thing. But back to the "ipod nano", well... it's very small. Although i fail to see anything revolutionary in it besides the size, it'll probably sell bucketloads for its sheer accessibility alone. |
