Well I can safely say the tracks I lost are all back on my PC and has saved my the small price of a pint to re-buy them. Cheers for the tips and this thread has been a small source of knowledge based on some responsese!

Wrong. I am a developer, but luckily I don't have to develop much for Windows. Only linux and Mac. And it is a pleasure to develop on those platforms compared to Windows. I can't stand anything to do with windows.

Regardless, I disagree with most of your points, but that is okay, as people with different opinions are what make the world such a wonderful place to be sometimes (and awful others i suppose... ie Gaza).

Anyways, if you didn't have iTunes, you wouldn't know how much better WMP is! (HA!)

All I have to say is I'm happy for Dirty0900 he got his files back and also that despite the bitter overtones and blatant vehemence of bas_I_am I agree with all he said. I can't for the life of me imagine why iTunes would run so great on a Mac and so awfully on a PC (Bonjour!). It's great for organizing your music plus running some batch volume-equalizing, ie. But it's not worth having it on my system anymore. Winamp will do the same much more efficiently.

He also hit right in the nail about why a lot of PC apps hang/crash/are not efficient. 95% of the times it'll be poor design lead by the developer's ignorance, linked with the fact that it's so easy (cheap) to write programs for Windows. That doesn't happen in Macs, but then again you only have to take a look at sites such as softonic.com to realise the difference when it comes to handy little freeware apps offer for both platforms.

I've noticed what the ipod makes to the files on it too, ie splitting them in several chunks and giving them coded names.... This said, I don't think any mp3 player beats it and I'm very happy with mine (Although I've stopped using it since I got a slick Sony Eriksson w880i).

I don't think the sound quality is determined by the MP3 player...rather the MP3 itself...

well damn, there was me comparing a 128kbps track on an iPod with a 352kbps on a Sony.

seriously, no difference in sound quality between players (or, for that matter, earplugs) - is that what you're saying?
