Re: American Badass - McCain
I think the only time we saw the real John McCain was in his concession speech. If he had retained that level of decency, warmth and composure throughout the campaign, he would have stood a much better chance of winning.

John McCain has a looooong road ahead of him to win back my respect. Even if we remove all else from the equation, I simply can't dismiss the fact that he put someone as vile and unqualified as Palin potentially a heartbeat away from the Presidency. "Country first" my ass.

Re: American Badass - McCain
there was a writer recently that said we need a bigger apology from McCain. One respectful concession speech doesnt automatically eliminate the months of horrid character assasinations.

it's almost like saying we should forget about Bush's entire career in the White House just because he's acting nice nowadays (as CNN put it after his early goodbye speech in front of the white house "that's how he should have been throughout his term")

Re: American Badass - McCain
bush's term i hated. bush's second term was not anywhere near as bad. it was just uneventful because he didn't really care. the only thing he did that i really approve of was blocking funding for embryonic stem cell research. that is a political football. there is no reason that funding could not be pushed for adult and placental stem cell research, which are just as viable without killing a child.

I think the people of New Orleans would disagree.
