Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
Yeah, that is a very nice video. It's from the balloon drop at Rock Werchter. Must've been filming with a high-speed camera.

Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
This explains the piece that's being shown on the webcam the past couple days:

Quote:
ArtJam New York. Work-in-progress, 2
john
Saturday, 7:19 AM
jhg/nyc. August 1- August 15

High Pigment Oil Stick on Aluminum Panels
8′ x 8′. 2008

This drawing accumulates over time (the duration of the exhibition) documenting the movement
of visitors within the gallery. Everyone that visits the gallery is recorded.

THe work is under a skylight so the tonality of the metal changes constantly through
the day. The intense colour field of Naomi’s painting (to the right) also effects the surface
of the aluminum. Naomi’s painting will have a colour sequence - green to orange to yellow
to light blue violet, all of which will effect my ‘ground’.

What an absolutely beautiful video I love the way that time is frozen everytime the big booming bell/drum is heard

Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
I have yet to go, but if you try and go Aug 7th it might be best to wait towards the end of the day as Karl and/or Rick are supposed to be there in the evening for the Songs for Tibet cd release (this thread)

Our flight lands at 2:35pm. Haul ass to check in at the Hotel, then onto the gallery. Is there going to be any other dirts for sure there on Thursday 8-7?. Anyone want to discuss a dirty meet on Thursday night after the gallery closes?

Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
Karl and John are on the camera right now, talking to each other. They're discussing this print:

http://www.underworldlive.com/artjam...ile/isdirt.jpg

and Karl is now adding new marks to it. Karl spent about 10 minutes working on the print.

Quote:
Everything is Dirt & All the Dirt is Beautiful, #1 - #4
Karl Hyde
Digital Print on cotton rag paper, 1m x 1.4m, 2008.

Everything is Dirt & All the Dirt is Beautiful is the first in a yet unnamed suite of 30 prints.
Each print comes in an edition of 10. 4 prints to be shown at the gallery.
Each print to have additional drawn marks, painting, unique to that print and
added during the show.
Edit: A wooden airplane just flew by the camera. How odd.

Edit 2: Looks like Rick just arrived in the gallery (straight from the airport? He's carrying a duffel bag). He and Karl had a hug. Karl continues to work on the print.

Edit 3: John, Rick, and Karl now signing the limited-edition Beautiful Burnout ArtJam prints.

Re: Beautiful Burnout - Art Jam, New York
Well, I called the gallery to ask about the limited edition art prints.

The first 25 are $1800 each, and the last 75 are $2000 each. (Not sure why the last ones are more expensive.)

I also asked the staff to have the band wave to the webcam.
