Guys, the way this works is that the Underworld Shop does geo-location on your IP address, and presents the products in your native currency accordingly (I'm assuming that it defaults to British Pounds for locations it can't identify or is not configured for their currency, like ThingInABook's Chile).

During checkout, it passes this currency type and amount to the payment processor (PayPal). Unfortunately, it appears that their PayPal account is currently configured to only accept British Pounds.

So, there's no way to circumvent this, unless you can make your IP Address appear to be in the UK (through a proxy or VPN), and even then it might cause problems with the shipping, as noted.

Why so eager to try to circumvent the system? Just be patient, and let them sort it out (yes, it is taking an inordinate amount of time for it to get properly sorted), but do you really want to place your order while the system if FUBAR'd? Just have patience; I'm sure there'll be plenty for everybody.

I think people would be more at ease if someone from Team Underworld or Digital Monkeys would email, post on the forum, some for of communication.

Karl's disconnected diary posts seem silly in this context.

the system was fine with my Scribble download before this.

You seem to be assuming that this forum is a part UWL. It is not, as you can see the staff here are trying to help but have no influence over the systems at UWL and can only act as "middle men" which they are doing. If you are going to bash make sure you have your facts straight first.

Any and all complaints are 100% valid. As someone who works in digital content for a living, I can tell you this is a disgraceful episode. I suspect the band or someone they're friends with are trying to build this shop themselves because sorting out a PayPal-based ordering system is so easy, any amateur web developer can do it after reading the basic FAQ.

I say the following as as devoted and supportive an Underworld fan as anybody can be: Gentlemen, you are on the cusp of a well earned mainstream blitz, but your main portal to the world, your website, is astonishingly unhelpful. How many new "Scribble" listeners visited Underworldlive.com today to buy the album and were turned away? How many will forget about this whole thing when the album finally leaks in September and not even bother to download it on Pirate Bay? You NEED to fix it.

I don't disagree with the rest of what you've said, but this is wrong. It's already been well established that Digital Animal is responsible for the new website. IMO, it has not been money well-spent so far.
