of course historically its outdated, but thats the beauty of it, it was a modern day history lesson and it remains so to day...

what Frankie did with their first three relases was phenomenal at the time and with such powerful records, a Sex anthem that got banned by the biggest radio station in the land, a cold war anthem of epic proportions, i mean the who "Frankie Say" era it was more than just a single in the charts, music was much more of an involving movement then - the records, the videos, t-shirts, the record label... record releases, charts, etc,. all were much more fun in the 80's than the duller 90's and even duller 00's

two tribes rocks not because of the musically quality but for what it stood for, and what it represents today - to me it kinda sums up the 80's, (that and most of Wham's output )

Re: Best SONG of the 80s
well, since everyone isn't sticking to one tune - these are my top choice for the era...

it's a mug's game - soft cell

joy division - love will tear us apart

bauhaus - burning from the inside album

depeche mode - black celebration album

the cure - pornography, head on the door, and disintergration albums

love and rockets - earth, sun, moon

new order - substance album

every smiths album

and of cousre - morrissey's viva hate

... and this is just the tip of the iceberg...

1993- but it still counts as 80s. like AHDO still counts as 90s, and Three's Company was mostly in the 70s.

Re: Best SONG of the 80s
A bit of useless trivia.

The "Howling" mix of Sanctuary (runs about 8 min.) and has a howling wolf in the first 15 sec. of the track which was recorded a few miles from where I'm sitting as we speak.

I still go out during the months of November & December to hear them.

Re: Best SONG of the 80s
Surely with so many great songs from the 80s, one of you guys could create the BEST 80s MIX that would fit nicely on 1CD. Or for that matter, the BEST OF 1980 MIX and so on. Where can I download this from?
