R.E.M. Accelerate
Anyone got this?
I'm not really all that familiar with R.E.M. although of course they are/were a huge name so I've heard their stuff on the radio and also have one of the old cd's (Out of Time)
Still this was on sale and I remembered reading it was something of a "comeback" record so picked it up.

Actually I find it quite enjoyable. It's more straight rock than Out of Time with more emphasis on simple song structures and distorted guitars but there's a couple of really nice songs on this.
My favourites being Supernatural Superserious and Mr Richards.

If there's any real R.E.M. fans here, what's your favourite album?

I must be old because I consider Out Of Time to be new R.E.M.

for me, old, and the only good, R.E.M. are the IRS Records releases

Murmur, Reckoning, Fables of the Recxonstruction, Lifes Rich Pageant, and Document

Of these, LRP is a my favorite

New Adventures In Hi-Fi, from 1996, their last album with the original drummer, is imho an amazingly underrated record. I usually only like (not love) their stuff, but that disc is in my top 10 of all time.

I really dig Accelerate, too.

You've opened a can of worms here...

IRS days (82 -87):
1. Murmur (83) -- debut album - beat Thriller as album of the year from "Rolling Stone" mag
2. Reckoning (84) -- album #2 - better than Murmur ???
3. hell, they're all good -- Document (87), LRP (86), Chronic Town EP (82)

Warner Days (w/ Berry) (88-97):
1. Automatic (93) -- last two songs - Nightswimming and Find the River - together are incredible
2. NAIHF (96) -- I agree w/ darktrain, a very underrated album; wow: Undertow, HTWWW&WIGU, Be Mine, Blinky, Leave, E-Bow
3. And I like Monster (95) -- You is my fav

Warner (w/o Berry) (98-08):
1. Accelerate (08)
distant, distant 2. Up (98) -- a few great songs - Falls to Climb, Walk Unafraid

I grew up in the South in the 80s.
