Next Tuesday night - barring no problems - i will take over the dirty airwaves for two hours of solid gold Orbital and 808 State classics from the 1990's

two techno / electronica heavyweights going head to head

Sounds like a great analoggy old school show. But imho, Orbital wins hands down every time. 808 was gr8 but didn't d8 well.:p

well yeah -its not a vote - its just a chance to play some classics from both Orbital & 808 state

Orbital are technicaly better, but i didnt really want to do a two hour Orbital show, and personally 808 State are pretty close musically to Orbital and they fit into my 1990's period

it was gonna be Orb, Obrit and Orbital, but i did Orb two weeks ago and Orbit doesn't fit as well with Orbital...

and i have a bit of 808 State lying around!

so next Tuesday it will be....

i've always been a fan of 808 state,

and for a while orbital also, but they
were much more hit and miss for me..
with their peak being the 'brown' album..
halcyon etc..

808 has been pretty consistent even
until now...although i haven't heard
their early stuff, i am getting both,
prebuild and newbuild soon..

i'm enjoying their last one, outpost transmission
a lot....but am missing their usual singles..
i need to get the invader cd/12inch also..

Pacific State is ridonkulous. Love that track :)

Are there any bands out there that captures 808 State's tempo on tracks like "Pacific State" and Orbital's general technique, style etc?

I keep looking but the more I search, the more I realize that some of the bands I like are pretty unique (to my limited knowledge).
