Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio
...

this album confuses me. There is a deliberate attempt to balance a mix up the typical Basement Jaxx sound with some fresh components, and what it sounds like is if you use the BJ template and plug in completely different variables. On the first few listens it sounds like it's verging on being a complete fuckin' mess... but often times it's these kinds of records that end up bearing a lot of fruit in the long term.

So, initial reaction: huh?

Yeah... I wasn't a fan of 'Kish Kash' at all, whereas 'Rooty' is one of my favorite records ever.

This album is like neither of those.

Kish Kash was 50/50 for me. I especially loved the track Kish Kash, hearing Siouxsie over the BJ sound made me very very happy.

I'll try and get Crazy Itch Radio tonight.

i just downloaded it, will have to listen proper today.

but i have an opposite regard for the last two albums... rooty is 50/50 for me, not really musically but just freak stuff i couldn't get over. i mean, it took so much to go with the vocals in 'breakaway' and the music was amazing.

whereas i really REALLY liked kish kash.

Re: Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio
funny...

it semes like with both Rooty and Kish Kash... you kinda almost had to love one and (at least) find the other 'not so great'

-> I was one of the people who loved Rooty, and well... I don't even remember the last time I listened to Kish Kash, like - it's sitting amongst my collection back at my parents' house

but... if Scott says this this sounds like neither, I'm intrigued

will have to see about finding a leak too

I too, would agree with scott.
KK was a major let down...
but the live shows supporting it were a blast!

Re: Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio
"take me to your house" and "hush boy" are pretty cool in a kish-kashish kinda way (is this the same broad that sang on 'oh my gosh'?). after the first four tracks it gets a bit wacky, but i have to listen again. kish kash took me a while, too.....i think this has potential after all.

Re: Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio
I think theyre not taking themselves too seriously. I dunno.
More Hush Boy. More Banjo loops like in 'Take me to your house'.

Less Screaming/30 layered french horns. And...leave the Atlantic Jaxx stuff where it belongs (on atlantic jaxx)

Please.

Maybe i'm the only one, but while I thought Rooty was the best, i liked Kish Kash. It was fun.

This is...also the first album i've ever seen a reprise to the...intro song.
