Re: Dubstep
I'm listening to his Rinse FM podcast right now...

first part is filled with old school tunes, from IDM to old reggae, crossing by the Beach boys...

second part is more technoid, I suppose his DAS 6 is in the same range.

no doubt about this... ordered my copy on Boomkat since it was possible

However, I've still not listened to Dubstep A.S. 6...

Re: Dubstep
a great deal of the good dubstep this year and the last feels a bit too slick and gentrified to me. i miss that murky vibe from 04-06, where the bassweight felt dangerous. i don't know how i feel about the techno crossover stuff. it can be quality, but also go overboard with fiddly nuances. for me, it slows the music down in a way.

Martyn has some very raw stuff (Shadowcasting!) and a lot of very polite stuff. it sounds polite when he plays it out, too, but maybe that's also a function of his DJing, which is also very proper & polite. i don't know.
