so what exactly is the Abbey Road version? How is it different from the regular YDS?

I get the feeling it's an instrumental arrangement they tried and then abandoned. It's only 5m 49s long, and the drums are different from the 8 minute version on the Barking Alternatives disc (as you can probably hear from the itunes preview). My guess (going by the sound of the drums) is that at least some are played live, as they have a very similar feel to the end dum-heavy part of 'beautiful burnout'. It's got a more polished studio sound than the Barking alternatives version, but it doesn't seem 'finished'.

Agreed that the vocals should have been included. IMO that is what really put the tune over the top. Without them it's still a solid tune, like 3.5/5, but with it's probably like 5/5. This post, however, gets a 2/5.

like i've said before, they don't really want to make and show the songs that sound the best (by UW) to be released... it would be a conflict of interest for the album.
