Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
NIN themselves released the first part online to bittorrent sites....

http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/405...58.TPB.torrent

Sounds great. Mostly piano based ambient noodling, but it's got a couple of industrial tracks too. Will pick up the full four part version once I get paid.....

if i didnt just spend $70 in printing fees today i'd drop cash for the CDs, but i guess it'll have to wait a few days.

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
in terms of the distribution method, absolutely amazing. i sprung for the full thing after trying the free GhostsI album.

the music itself. (mostly) yawn. (and ive been a huge fan for years, liking a lot of the past instrumental stuff)

i dont mind depressing rainy day piano music. just not 36 tracks worth.

here is the (totally legal) torrent for the first of the 4 albums. to get the remaining 3 you have to purchase it. edit: whoops. someone already posted it

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
i like this spin on it. but then again i would since i'm a designer and i do what he does but the other way around.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

i think it's pretty allright. satisfied enough to listen multiple times but not really anything to rave about
thats ok, though

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
Just flipping through the tracks atm in the site player -- if there's one thing I admire, it's that there's always this consistency in his melodies and progressions that kind of tie all of his bodies of work together. I also have to say, I'm really enjoying this more mellow side of Trent that's been rearing its head more and more since The Fragile. Although Trent has always been hit or miss with each of his songs, when he hits he's one of the finest modern-day composers, and that always makes for a satifying experience.

28 Ghosts IV, 32 Ghost IV, and 24 Ghosts III are the finer offerings from the site's player, imo...

EDIT: If money was just an object... I'd definately buy the $300 deluxe crazy edition. That looks like a ridiculously nice package!!

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
yea - I've only heard one track so far on a blog, and I quite dig it. It definitely reminds me of that bonus disc that came with the live/best of album

I'd totally want to get either of the two 'delux' versions (especially the one w/ vinyl & the art prints) ...but - in all reality. I'll probably just get the cd version (and probably never open it - and just listen to the download)

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
I'm hoping that this will be good...

I bought the cd version, and started my download at like.... maybe 3 o'clock, at the time - it said 2-3 hours download time. It's now 6:20, and I still have 6 hours and 19 minutes to go!

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
well, the egregiously expensive, "who the hell would buy that?" $300 version is sooooold out.

i'm actually dumb enough to consider buying the $75 version, because the photography is the best i've seen in a loong time, but no, if i have that much to blow there's liveherenow still calling.

i'm getting the cd though

Re: NIN- GHOSTS I-IV
I'm considering the $75 for the photgraphy and package. Yesterday, I was a click away from ordering the the $300 wth an eye to reselling it a few years down the line... but had a $69.99 delivery charge, which really put me off, I don't like being gouged, especially by someone who rants about record companies ripping people off.

It's just a pity that the music isn't that hot, I'd be all fired up about getting the multitracks like I was over year zero if it was up to Trent's usual standard :-/
