Themes = good. Same set of lyrics several times = bad idea. Remember the lesson of Push Downstairs. But hey, it's your perfect version

By the by, what is calonlan?

Re:dirty0900 - "Loads of Birds" is (surprise, surprise), kind of downtempo. Glitchy beats (treated with a modulation so every hit rings trebley), though the effect comes off as low bitrate artefacts. Karl's vocal is untreated, and to behonest, it's not the best in terms of being on pitch. Some pads and strings in there and a bit of guitar, which gets progresively more noisy toward the end. A slow builder, but then a long fade out. Basically, not missed.

Re: My own perfect version of OWB
nope. loads of birds won't go in my idealized playlist. there's nowhere to place it where the vibe won't be completely thrown off.

it's going to have to be my "hidden track" after 5 full minutes of complete silence, where you think there can't possibly be any more music on the album, ala the orblivion hidden track.

also, listen to loads of birds back to back with gus gus's remembrance sometime. so so pleasant.

Re: My own perfect version of OWB
yeah i focused on the later ones where the vocals have more of a "skym" effect, so the lyrics come through on maybe two of them and the rest is the sort of ambience closer to cuddle bunny, which i really love and think it gets unfairly dumped on here.

calonlan is the welsh hymn thing that was available for download awhile ago that was short and very sweet and seemed like a good closer after the beats and layers and journeys and everything.

Re: My own perfect version of OWB
Okay well you might say that CDs are obsolete (which is wrong) and that APFC is 20mins (only the japanese itunes version is, and it wasnt stated which version) but the original poster marcolphus made his compilation to fit on a CD. If youre going to make a "perfect" version then why not make it 7 hour epic including everything from 2004-2007?

Because honestly who would want to listen to a 7 hour album?

i would, if it was any good..i could string together
at least a few hours of their stuff, no problem..

ok, yeah i might take a break somewhere along the line,
and yeah, i might not be concentrating the whole time..

but i listened through all the live discs straight...

*****NOTE : yes, i'm at work, so it's possible to do this
during the day..

Re: My own perfect version of OWB
Some people seem genuinely surprised that UW didn't add other "well-developed" tracks to OwB despite the fact that a lot of fans already love them (i.e. You do Scribble, Darc...).

I'm sure some people's "perfect version" of STITI would include Born Slippy NUXX. The bands "biggest commercial success" can't be found on any of their proper albums.
