Vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013
This was posted on the Steve Hoffman Music Forum (Hoffman being a noted remastering engineer). Right now the top three vote-getters are Rush, Deep Purple, and Heart...but in a field including Donna Summer, Chic, and Kraftwerk, you know where my sympathies lie.
From Rolling Stone: Quote: The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013 are in. This year's hopefuls are Albert King, Chic, Deep Purple, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procol Harum, Public Enemy, Randy Newman and Rush. The top vote-getters will be inducted on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater L.A. live in Los Angeles. For the first time, the public gets to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body. From now until December 5th, fans can vote on RollingStone.com for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class of 2013. The results will be announced in mid-December. |

Well, Donna Summer´s State of independence from
"...Sounds like a signal from you bring me to meet your sound and I will bring you to my heart Love, like a signal you call touching my body, my soul bring to me, you to meet me here..." is epic indeed. But is it enough for a Hall of Fame?

Re: Vote for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2013
I would've loved to see N.W.A. make it in, but I'm happy enough to see Public Enemy get in. All of this awesome hip-hop that I grew up on, it's great to see it make it to the rock 'n roll Hall of Fame. And I can't wait to see Public Enemy perform, it's about time that a hip-hop act gets to perform for their Hall of Fame induction. I was so excited last year when the Beastie Boys got inducted because I thought that they would play the event, but when Adam Yauch canceled, I knew he wasn't going to turn the corner with his cancer. And of course, by the time that Run DMC was inducted, Jam Master Jay was gone...
Man. It's sad to watch so many of these acts get inducted past their prime or after they're gone, that's the worst part of this whole process. |

Every living artist, including outside of the music creating culture, needs to know how much they owe Kraftwerk.
