R.I.P. Captain America

Apparently, this is making waves in the national media. (FYI, he'll probably come back sometime. This is the comic book world.)

Re: R.I.P. Captain America
I'm sure he'll be back within two years.

I haven't read the issue yet, but apparently, it's a pretty damn good story (and unhyped pissing off retailers, who were cut off guard). It's kinda like how the death of Superman just blindsided everyone. More copies are coming out on March 28.

What's that sound? It's the sound of an army of screaming fanboys coming your way!

I actually might track this down... as I used to be mega into comics

but then... I also actually like Rob Liefield's version of Cap, without the stupid "A" on his head

Re: R.I.P. Captain America
The problem with Cap is that Marvel just didn't know what to do with him. They tried some anti-America storylines (Cap questioning whether America is good for the world, etc.) Fans didn't appriciate that at all, even though I loved it.

The 9/11 flag-waving era was good for Cap, but since then it basically came down to this: Conservatives want him to be one-dimentional.. unquestioning in American policy, which isn't popular with liberals or most of the world. You can't make anyone happy when it comes to Cap. Better to just kill him off now and bring him back in the next patriotic swing.
