Y: The Last Man
Goddamn, I love this series. I just devoured the fifth volume in one night, and looking back at volume one, I just have to recommend this series. It's a comic book from Vertigo written by Brian K. Vaughan and drawn by Pia Guerra, and in it, a plague suddenly, and violently, killed everything with a Y chromosome in it, that's about 3 billion men, except for Yorick brown and his pet helper monkey, Ampersand. The best part about this series is that it looks at the idea of the last man on Earth realistically. Planes crash all over the world, highways are completely jammed, famine and disease from corpses are real concerns, and a group of militant radicals, calling themselves Amazons, are running around praising Mother Earth for killing all the men--eventually attempting to kill poor Yorick. It's intense, but also very funny as well. I highly recommend this to everyone.
And no, Yorick doesn't try to get laid with every woman he meets. He actually has a fiancee out in the middle of the Australian outback he's trying to find.

Re: Y: The Last Man
I read the first three volumes and I thought it kinda sucked and was too unrealisitic. Like, Yorick's mom just happens to be president of the US now? It was kinda hard to swallow. The monkey's antics reminded me of why exactly the writers of Friends got rid of Ross' monkey by season two or whatever.
It's entertaining but there are much better comics out there. |

Re: Y: The Last Man
Well, actually, his mom isn't the president now; she was, what, a representative? The secretary of agriculture became president, I believe.
