moaner lyrics (sorry)
On the old board there was a thread debating the lyrics of Moaner- possibly with some quote from the band- I've tried searching high and low for this, and can't find it anywhere.

Now I have to do an essay comparing lyrics on two songs of my choice (one of which is Moaner) and I could really use some help, even if it's just what you guys think the lyrics could mean.

My own personal interpretation (which I had posted in the old thread) was that it alludes to the film 'An American Werewolf in London' but any other views would be appreciated!!

Cheers
V.

How does it allude? I too am interested in this discussion.

Re: moaner lyrics (sorry)
Always a hard thing to determine with Karl's lyrics, as the lyrics in one song may be about a lot of different things, are about nothing in particular. Most of his lyrics come from roaming the streets of whatever city he's in and writing about stuff he sees or conversations he overhears, of course all intepreted trough his own particular style of observation and interpretation.
In moaner, there's lots of roaming the city streets stuff, and maybe a story about frustrations with a relationship/love.

I don't think there's really much sense in trying to figure out what the lyrics mean per se. Maybe more interesting would be to try and imagine the situations and places he was in when he wrote it. Were they his own feelings, or interpretations of something he was observing? Maybe/probably a bit of both?

There's a little bit about the genesis of the lyrics for Moaner here and here:

Re: moaner lyrics (sorry)
one could write a thesis on Karl's lyrics, and I don't think that the arguing will ever be done. I still have arguments with people about the lyrical content of "dirty epic", and many others.

My favorite UW lyrics site is http://underworld.dougstewart.org/
