Public MP3 Listening Test (128 kbps) @ hydrogenaudio.org
The density of "audio geeks" is pretty high here, so this may be of interest for many of you.
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=66564 Five MP3 encoders are tested @ 128 kbps: LAME 3.97 LAME 3.98.2 iTunes 8.0.1.11 Fraunhofer IIS mp3surround CL encoder v1.5 Helix v5.1 2005.08.09 There are 14 samples overall, but you can also send results for just one or a few if you like. Every single result is welcome and would improve the statistical significance of the test. Thanks!

Re: Public MP3 Listening Test (128 kbps) @ hydrogenaudio.org
Dig! I always enjoy these sorts of audiophile experiments. usually a well-encoded mp3 at 192 or higher doesn't bother me, so i don't worry about having all my files in Flac, Wav, lossless whatever, since i burn em to CD anyway. But at lower bitrates, the artifacts and losses are pretty evident.
Thanks for the link!
