Drift Ep 3, Part 5 - Poet Cat
Alice in the underground – Absolem in metamorphosis

A low string breathing; frenetic squalls, auric vibrations, a storm coming up from the South whispered close to an ear, ghost tracks rumbling through dusty underground stations carry us eventually out into summer sunlight.

All the while, the Poet Cat stalks the periphery.

(Featuring the violin and saxophone of Georgia Ellery and Lewis Evans of Jockstrap and Black Country, New Road)
If you like… Tongue, Santiago, Sandman (I’ll Be There), Molehill… then Poet Cat belongs to you.

Another track that sounds absolutely nothing like Underworld. Calling it "Poet Cat" feels a bit on the nose. Second half of this is very nice.

This one didn't do it for me at all, although I liked Bowie's last album.

This has been my boring opinion.

Re: Drift Ep 3, Part 5 - Poet Cat
The deep, distorted sound (a guitar?)...something about the tone reminds me of the bassline to"Rock on" by David Essex.

Much like the Necks collaborations on Drift EPs 1&2, this track is interesting, different, but not my fave of the bunch. "This Must be Drum Street" and "custard speedtalk" are tops for me.

Love it to death. Now I wanna know what an underworld jazz fusion album would sound like
Only sad that I can bury my previous theory on this episode reflecting music history in a way.
As, I’m pray they will release the sleeve notes again. I have questions.

According to Simon’s instagram, this is the finale for Ep 3, so the collection should be next week, perhaps with some extended cuts?

I hope whatever drumming's going on in the Pinetum video makes it onto the final version in some way!

as for this track, it's alright. this whole ep is 'alright'. this round has been a bit confounding tbh but that's experimenting for you.

Yeah, it's been a journey. I think I come to terms and enjoy the output more in long form rather than single tracks. Both episodes 1 and 2 have really grown on me with full listens through. Favorite individual tracks stay strong but I get more out of the rest if I consider it a thematic whole.
