Re: are we pretending we don't care about the best of the year?!...
yeah "The Departed" is perfect.

"Cache".. I saw it this year when it came out...maybe is last year yeah.

I forgot i absolutely loved "The Wild Blue Yonder" by Herzog.

"Fast Food Nation" was pretty neat too.

"The Science of Sleep" is really touchy, beautiful, etc... but then after a few days i dislike this attitude of "im so honest that im going to make a film about how cool i am" hehe.. I don't know... Oh this happened actually because i saw it twice and i must leave it in the first time and that was it.

I spend all this year watching all i can about Herzog and he became one of my idols all time officially.

About new movies i saw, i found my new favorite movie this year, which is
La Cienaga by Lucrecia Martel. (All of you in Netflix please watch it!!)
Is an Argentinian film, completely weird and beautiful.

About Documentaries: Cocaine Boys is the best doc of this year!!!!! Is just so far off of all you ever think about this bizz!! This film was stunning.
"The United States vs John Lennon" was nice too. The production was kind of bad actually but the whole subject was very interesting.

I liked it too "Death of a President" not terrific but it wasn't as awfull as the critic describe it. It was really well done actually.

Edit:

THANK YOU FOR SMOKING was amazing too. Funnny (with 3 n's ) and cleaver!! I enjoyed this film tons.

I heard about this a long time ago, I never got to watch it. I don't have Netflix though.

Man this movie was terrible! It was so desperately contrived, could they possibly try any harder?
I like movies like that (lock stock etc) but only if they have a plot which justifies the action. It was totally pointless, a whole bunch of twists and turns for nothing. Not to mention the dialogue.

Inside man, on the other hand, I loved, the production/script were so much better.

Children of Men and Little Children are the two far-and-away standouts in my opinion... though Lynch's film is one I've yet to see.

The Fountain, while beautiful and ambitious, ultimatley had way too many problems for me to praise it as much as the others...

25. Children of Men

I think those are the only 2 movies I watched this year :P
I found 'Borat' disappointing. Though it had its two or three glorious moments, it was mainly a sequence of average skits.

'DéjÃ* Vu' was ok for entertainment purposes but the flaws/inaccuracies in the story-telling (esp. technical explanations) were annoying.

Does 'V for Vendetta' qualify as a 2006 film? I liked it very much for its aesthetic approach to an interesting topic and general coolness. Plus, it had Nathalie Portman in it.

I might have been to the movies one or two more times last year but I can't remember.
